About your host...
Linda Karaberis is a self described “foodie.” That means she loves everything about food, including cooking, eating and shopping for it. She enjoys entertaining, teaching people how to cook, and trying new restaurants. Although her enjoyment of food began with childhood experiences of cooking with her grandmother and mother, Linda brought it to another level with a recent career change when her job of 17 years as a Logistics Analyst for a major foodservice distributor was eliminated.
She decided to go back to school at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she received a degree in Food & Beverage Management. She graduated summa cum laude. Karaberis states, “The food and beverage program at Johnson & Wales is unique, in that it combines Culinary labs and Hospitality classes. Because I’m more of a ‘people person’ I found this program fulfilled my desire to learn new cooking techniques as well as interact with people.” By gaining experience as a Catering Assistant, Innkeeper and Event Coordinator, Linda continues to increase her knowledge in the culinary arts.
“I want the focus of Linda’s Kitchen to be on creating fun and easy dishes, as well as learning new techniques. Preparation techniques I learned in cooking school, really make cooking more enjoyable. I want to present dishes that are not intimidating; ones that people will actually want to try at home. I also have taken classes in various ethnic cuisines at Crystal Spring Learning Center in Plainville, Massachusetts and would like to share my knowledge of making such dishes as Spanikopita (Greek Spinach Pie) and fresh Asian Spring Rolls.”
“A heartfelt goal is to encourage people who don’t cook, to want to cook. For the people who do cook, I hope to present new techniques, kitchen gadgets and recipes. I also invite feedback at my e-mail address- lindaskitchen@comcast.net.” Linda is a lifelong resident of the Attleboro area and is familiar with the surrounding region, including Providence. She welcomes new residents to contact her at her e-mail address to answer any questions about the area, especially restaurant recommendations, and places to find that unique food item or kitchen supply.
